Q. What’s the scoop on whisky?
A. Since at least the early 15th century, people have enjoyed Whisky. An alcoholic beverage distilled from one of a variety of fermented grain mash such as barley, malted barley, rye, malted rye, wheat and maize (corn), it’s aged in wooden casks-usually oak.
Scotch is a popular type of whisky. Coming in one of four very different categories, Scotch melds to fit any personal taste: single malt, vatted malt (a.k.a. “pure malt”), blended and single-grain. While it’s usually distilled two or three times, Scotch must be matured in an oak cask in Scotland for at least three years. For the best possible flavor, drink it straight up or with a twist.
